The Snug Aviemore - Whisky Masterclass from the last distiller from a Lost Distillery

Enjoy an intimate whisky masterclass led by our Senior Distiller, Raymie Mackay - the last distiller from a lost distillery. Hosted in our distillery shop, The Snug in Aviemore, this exclusive evening experience welcomes individual guests or small groups, accommodating up to twenty people in total.

Raymie will take you on a journey through the whisky-making process from start to finish, offering expert insight into distillation, maturation, and the distinctive finishing techniques that shape each dram. You’ll also discover the rich history of the Speyside Distillery, housed within a former flour mill dating back to circa 1765.

This 2 hour experience includes a complimentary special distiller’s choice limited-edition dram, included in the price of £35 per flight. A designated drivers pack is available.

Premium Whisky Tasting experience on the Strathspey Steam Train

Enjoy a few drams of whisky, with breathtaking scenery as you steam through the heart of the Cairngorms National Park on journey aboard the Strathspey Steam Train. Our Senior Distiller from our Speyside Distillery, now A Lost Distillery, will guide you through a whisky master class on a return journey from Aviemore to Broomhill Station.

You will have the opportunity to try 5 drams plus a complimentary surprise dram and by previous demand we’re delighted to inform you that we will have a selection of bottles to purchase at a special discount. Please call or email for availability and to book your ticket.

Whisky Experience Premium is £70 per flight.

Gin Tasting Experience

Enjoy two of our handcrafted, award‑winning gins, each thoughtfully paired with its own perfectly chosen garnish and tonic. With an explanation on the Gins prior to your tasting, you can enjoy them at your own leisure. Made in small batches with botanicals that were hand-picked in the gardens of a lost distillery, then vapour-infused, resulting in two distinct yet traditional gins.

Whisky flights

A whisky flight consists of three handcrafted, award-winning drams of your choice from the selected package. We offer core-range flights for £17.50, or premium flights with limited editions for £22.50. Receive an explanation on the drams as well as in-depth tasting notes for you to read while you drink at your leisure. You are welcome to view a short video showcasing where your whisky was made while you enjoy. Small and large groups welcome.
